Diamond Wire Loop: Single vs Bi-Directional Cutting

The settings for single-direction cutting and bi-directional cutting are specific cutting programs employed by single wire diamond wire saws for slicing operations.

 

Single-direction cutting is utilized in two scenarios: first, during a cutting process involving 360-degree rotational cutting, single-direction cutting suffices. The second scenario involves single-direction cutting whereby after completing a slice, the wire returns, moves to the required cutting depth, and then advances to make the second cut.

Bi-directional cutting diagram:

Bi-directional cutting refers to completing a cut, moving to a new position, advancing the blade to cut back, thus concluding one cycle of bi-directional cutting.

The advantage of single-direction cutting is slightly higher flatness. The benefit of bi-directional cutting is a faster cutting speed; after completing a cut, there is no need to retract, directly moving to the desired cutting depth to commence cutting, saving time required for retraction before cutting again.
